Panna cotta, which means cooked cream in Italian, is an ethereal dessert that traditionally consists of cream and milk set very softly with gelatin.
INGREDIENTS serves 2
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
Heat the heavy cream and sugar in a saucepan over medium low heat. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and scrape the seeds from the bean into the cream and stir in the vanilla.
Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a medium-sized bowl and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Add the gelatin into the mixture and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Divide the panna cotta mixture into the prepared cups, then chill them until firm, which will take at least two to four hours. Garnish as desired. I chose to serve the panna cotta into a glass and topped them with fresh berries and finished it off with some chocolade. Enjoy!
