What better way to start your day as you look at the colorful leaves that mark the changing of the seasons than enjoying a hot pumpkin spice latte?

I tried my first at pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks with my dear friend Elisa and it totally blew me away! This seasonal favorite is offered at many coffee shops, but making your own at home will save you money and let you customize the amount of spices you use.

 

Ingredients

Pumpkin puree

Milk

Sugar

Brewed coffee

Pumpkin pie spices

Vanilla

Cinnamon

Direction

The first thing you will do with your pumpkin, whether you’re carving or simply cooking, is to scoop out the seeds. Cut the pumpkin and take out the seed. Cook the pumpkin for 30 min or less and mash into a puree. Scoop out one tablespoon of that pumpkin puree into a glass and add the coffee (1 cup espresso) and milk. Stir it and add in pumpkin pie spices, vanilla and sugar into the mixture. Serve warm and add some whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon for an extra special treat.
