As Rotterdam’s skyline expands, so do its number of restaurants. The view from Cafe Rotterdam is mesmerising, stretching from the Erasmus brigde and the skyscrapers of the City to gleaming the Euromast observation tower. But even if you don’t get a window seat there are plenty of opportunities to admire the view. The venue also features an outdoor terrace which will open when the weather allows.
We were invited for a food experience not to be missed – the menu is best described as French and includes a wide choice of meat and fish dishes as well as excellent vegetarian options that are beautifully presented. We had a 4-course dinner that started off with the amuse – cute little fish package you had to cut open with a scissor. As starter we had the Avocado with sweet and sour of cucumber, mozzarella and gorgonzola ice cream (totally recommend this). Followed by Codfish with cabbage, anchovies and a sauce of verjus (a gorgeous platter that tasted exquisite). The Main: the Neck of lamb confit with Jerusalem artichoke, lamb sauce and lime. Last but not least the dessert: Yoghurt ice cream with coconut, fennel and juice of lychee and yuzu. The food was just incredible. Every course they brought out was flawlessly executed and unbelievably delicious. Can’t wait to go back.
Glorious views and delicious food all at the same time, a must visit hotspot in Rotterdam 2016!
